Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.
“A Church in the Community for the Community”
As a Christian church we are concerned with, promoting the Gospel of Jesus Christ with the use of tradition and contemporary means. We desire to engage individuals with the truths of the Bible, through interpersonal interaction and via cyber media methods. We believe that by exemplifying the life and love of Jesus Christ through teaching, mentorship and other programs, human lives will be changed. Ultimately we are convinced that by initiating and facilitating spiritual transformation in the hearts of community members, our living and working environments will experience positive transformation.
After forty days of fasting, prayer on July 7, 1996 Queens Christian Centre was birthed with a vision to reach families and especially the youth with the gospel. The Mission Statement, “Changing lives by the power of God that is working within us” gave clarity to the church’s purpose, resulting in people of various ethnicities and different stations in life embracing the vision, and they joined the work.
In 2001, just four years after the church began the second critical step occurred. Diligent stewardship of resources and the Lord’s help led to the church being empowered to purchase its own house of worship at 259 -51 Francis Lewis Boulevard. That Mortgage was satisfied in just five years. Though the building was small it was their own, and the members continually gave the Lord thanks for His provision.
From this location many effective ministry outreaches were launched. Summer concerts in the park, public school and the Jewish temple inspired the community. Leadership seminars and various community outreaches edified those who attended. Scores of lives and families heard the gospel message, and testified of spiritual transformation by being water baptized.
Over the years many sick persons were healed, and the Monday prayer become a hallmark for persons in need of employment. The attendance at this meeting was sometimes challenged because individuals had their prayers answered, and were no longer able to attend due to work schedules. Many leaders have been identified and are encouraged to peruse God’s calling and ministry in their life.
After looking for over ten years for a larger facility to house the ministry the Lord opened the door for a move to the new facility in Hempstead. The new move was confirmed when the closing was competed exactly twenty years to the very day, that the inauguration service was held at the V.F.W. Post in Rosedale. .
Someone said “favor just isn’t fair.” This spacious and beautiful property now occupied by Destiny could have been owned by any one of the nineteen other churches that desired to make the purchase, But the Lord chose QCC – Destiny Cathedral to occupy at this time. The Pastor, First Lady and the members will ever be grateful to God for being faithful to His promises. The vision in this next phase of this ministry is simple and profound, “A church in the community for the community” and in this age where everyone is just a “click” away, our community encompasses the entire world.
